We (the Organizer – AIFD & the Host - AAD) are directed to inform you all with great pleasure that the Executive Committee of AIFD has approved to organize the All India Conference of the Deaf (AICD) to be hosted by Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD) from 18 May to 21 May 2023. The event is taking place after a gap of 35 years, the last conference was held in 1988, it is expected of all State Affiliates to actively engage and support AIFD and AAD to make it a grand success. The conference will feature keynote presentations from notable Deaf personalities and leaders from India and abroad, thought-provoking presentations from leaders of State Affiliates, extraordinary Deaf cultural stage performances, Deaf Talent shows, Deaf film shows including films from mainstream cinema involving portrayal of Deaf characters and / or performance of Deaf actors using Indian Sign Language. Besides these, there will be exhibition-cum-sale stalls from skilled Deaf artists and Deaf entrepreneurs selling their crafts / products.
It has been decided that each State Affiliate can send 25 official members, both males and females together, as group participants to the conference. They may include the following:
1. A group of 10 official deaf delegates including its own member affiliates at district level.
2. A troupe of 10 spectacular deaf artists to perform dance, drama and other form of stage shows performed either solo, or in group – small or large – as per theme of their show.
3.A group of 5 talented deaf exhibitors to showcase, sell their own crafts / products in stalls provided to them. If a particular State Affiliate already has its own active wing for Deaf Youths, it can send additional 10 youth members to the conference leading to a maximum of 35 members representing that State Affiliate at the conference.
It has been decided that registration for the conference is fixed at Rs. 2500/- (Two Thousand and Five Hundred only) per official participant, inclusive of meals and accommodation during the conference. Each State Affiliate is requested to send the details of participants as its contingent to the conference on its official letterhead along with one Demand Draft (DD) for group registration fees in favor of 7th All India Conference of the Deaf which should reach Assam Association of the Deaf (AAD) with copy to AIFD for information, not later than 15/04/2023. The exhibitors will need to pay Rs. 1000/- extra, in addition to the registration fee, for the utilization of space for stalls during the conference. Please note that a late fee of Rs. 500/- per participant will be added to the registration fees after the deadline i.e., from 16/04/2023 onwards.
A State Affiliate can send more than 25 official participants (35 in case of the State Affiliate having Deaf Youth wing) to the conference but they can come as ‘special participants’ who will pay Rs. 3000/- (Three Thousand only) per head, inclusive of accommodation and meals. The Deadline is 15/04/2023 after which Rs. 500/- per special participant will be added as late fee i.e., 16/04/2023 onwards. Yet-to-be-recognized State Affiliates] (whose status of affiliation with AIFD is pending) can send its contingent (rules for State affiliates regarding number of participants also applies). However, their participants will be treated as ‘Special Participants’ and they will pay Rs. 3000/- (Three Thousand only) per special participant inclusive of meals and accommodation during the conference.
The Deadline is 15/04/2023 after which Rs. 500/- per special participant will be added as late fee i.e., 16/04/2023 onwards.
Non-member participants / observers / exhibitors (not representing any of the State Affiliates of AIFD) will contact the General Secretary of AIFD (the organizer) directly for communication regarding the participation in the conference and their registration payments. The AIFD board will decide their admittance to the conference. If their participation is approved, they will pay Rs. 4000/- (Four Thousand only) inclusive of meals and accommodation during the conference. The event will kick off on 18 May from 12 noon onwards and will be closed by 7 pm on 21 May. All the participants are requested to make their own travel arrangements to Guwahati and return via road, rail, or air as suitable.
